The Tiny Gallery

Welcome to The Tiny Gallery. I have always loved the little book sharing houses that are around neighborhoods. It’s been a little dream of mine to create a similar space for sharing visual arts in a very low key way. And, here we are, one storm, one tree removal, and several months later, I humbly present The Tiny Gallery. Please continue on to find out more, and please do join in! There are two main ways to engage: Collect and Share.

Collecting Work

When the collecting sign is up, the mailbox is open to receive work that you would like to be shown in The Tiny gallery for the upcoming show. Just open the box and drop your piece in. All ages are welcome.

  • The Tiny Gallery is a little place to show and exchange 2D arts with our community. It is an attempt to celebrate creativity and create a little fun.

  • Any age, any stage. You are welcome to share if this is your first or 50,000th attempt at expressing something visually.

  • I think we are all artists, but even if you don’t - the answer is still no. You do not have to be an Artist to share.

  • Works are limited to the size of the mailbox opening: 6” X 0.5”

    Works that are out of alignment with the vision for The Tiny Gallery will be recycled.

  • Take a look at the upcoming shows. Get inspired. Create something. Drop it in the mailbox on one of the collecting days for the show you’d like to contribute to.

  • I hope that so much work is shared that this becomes a problem!! My plan is to rotate work, or save the work to display in a Part 2 of that theme.

    I’ll recycle any work that is not consistent with the community vibe of The Tiny Gallery.

Your Invitation to Join Upcoming Shows is Here!!

You don’t have to call yourself an artist to make something worth sharing. Respond to this month’s theme in any way that feels like yours, then leave your work in the collection box. Your work might inspire a neighbor or make someone smile on and ponder on their daily walk.

This is a tomato. It represents beginning because it was the start of a salad. I was struck by how colorful and detailed the slice was - like a map of an internal land. I might play with creating a tiny abstract painting or drawing. Or maybe I will just leave it as a photo. The point is, it fits the theme of the month and I didn’t fret about whether it fit. The theme is just some inspiration to get started!

Think about beginning abstractly or concretely. Big or small. Create a piece of art. Drop it in the mailbox. Hopefully other people will do it to and we can have fun sharing and celebrating the creativity in our neighborhood!

All work is installed at my discretion. If it doesn’t fit the community vibe, it will be recycled.

Think about all of the connections in your life - between people, ideas, events. Think about what it means to be connected. How do we make connections? What symbols or images suggest connection? What are you connected to? What are your most prized connections?

This is an image of a drawing I did during Covid to connect with my neighbors. Create a tiny piece that represents connection in your life or as you see it.

All work is installed at my discretion. Work that doesn’t fit the vision of Edgewood Goods will be recycled.

Sharing

When the sharing sign is up that means that the mailbox is filled with the art from the previous show and you are welcome to take a piece home for yourself. Please note that artists will not get their work back unless special arrangements have been made. Uncollected work during the share time will be recycled.

  • After the show has ended, work will be placed in the mailbox. The sharing sign will be posted. This invites people to take a piece of art home with them. Pieces not collected before the end of the sharing time will be recycled, or sent to someone needing a little surprise mailed to them.

  • No. This would be very hard to manage. However, I would like to do solo shows at some point, and in that case I could make arrangements to get work back to you. Reach out via the contact page to talk more if you are interested!

  • When the Sharing sign is up feel free to open the mailbox, and look through what is inside. Choose a piece to keep, put the rest back in the box and close the lid. Then come back another time, or share something of your own!
